In the middle of the pandemic Bill was pretty stir crazy and the occasional trips to Costco were not really enough to be considered socializing. A friend invited him over for a "Beer tasting party" as long as Bill stayed the night. They had a little drink and great time, and Bill was happy. The next morning the friends heard Bill stirring. It sounded like he rose from his bed, then they heard a hard fall! When they rushed in Bill was out cold on the floor. They immediately gave him CPR and the paramedics arrived in 4 minutes. They tried various ways of reviving him, but he was gone.

When the time comes, most folks want to go quickly. Few people are so lucky. Bill had a definite "do not resuscitate" order and he didn't ever want to go to the hospital. When he saw someone stooped over and senile, he told me "If I ever get like that, just shoot me" and he meant it. Bill risked his life many times for an experience, for an adventure, for a bigger lobster. Returning home after a harrowing trip he would always exclaim "We cheated death again!!" He lived life as he wanted and left the same way.
